Nov 17: Plastic Free Plant Starts workshop with Nicole Bauberger! Upcycle and make hopeful gifts.

In the depth of winter, what if we give the gifts of the tools to start seedlings, using upcycled materials?
In this workshop each participant will prepare one or more plastic-free plant start kits using food waste stream glass jars, ziplock bags, and Yukon clay, with seeds ready in an envelope made of a scrap of lovely paper from Nicole’s stash, and corn starch glue.
Participants are invited to bring: wide mouth clean glass jars with lids, clean ziplock bags from the food waste stream, and special seeds of their own if they would like. Nicole will have extra, so don’t worry if you can’t bring them.
In the workshop we will 1. make pinch pots with drainage holes at the bottom that will fit into the upturned jar, using the lid as a tray, 2. put YukonGrow seedling mix into our ziplocks and label them, 3. paste up seed envelopes and label them.
If there is extra time, participants can work more with Yukon clay or collage cards.
Nicole will fire the Yukon clay pots and they will be ready for pickup about 10 days from the workshop.
