Inspiring events at Yukon Artists At Work

When you book the Yukon Artists At Work gallery for your event, you get so much more than a space. You get to situate your event among inspiring artworks. You also get a YAAW member artist host who will be able to facilitate your comfortable time in the gallery, and also answer questions about the art and artists on display.

Visitors to the Yukon and locals alike often wish to come to Yukon Artists at Work more often. Your participants will get to engage with this unique place in the territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council through the eyes of about 20 Yukon artists, satisfying an item on their to-do list while attending your event.

Our members have also often facilitated workshops and team-building exercises. For an additional fee, we can program something along these lines for your participants.

Rentals include use of two bathrooms, a sink and dishrack, microwave, coffee pot, kettle mugs, some plates and cutlery, etc, 3 six foot folding tables and 20 chairs, a fewparking spots along the side of the building, digital projector and screen.

Please note

  • Rentals depend on availability of a YAAW host for scheduling
  • Please do not touch or move art; the gallery host will do that for you if necessary.
  • The renter is responsible for adhering to the rules about maximum capacity.
  • We ask the renter to name Yukon Artists At Work on their own liability insurance.
  • If you are unable to do this, there will be a 10% premium added.
  • Additional decorations or anything to be hung from the gallery’s interior or
  • exterior must get prior approval from the YAAW host
  • The renter should anticipate helping with setup and teardown of tables and chairs
  • The renter shall comply with all municipal, territorial and federal laws, bylaws and
  • regulations.
  • Any damages incurred during the rental of the facility are the financial
  • responsibility of the renter. You break it, you buy it.
  • No open flames, confetti, rice, decorative sparkles or loose glitter are allowed in
  • the gallery. No smoking inside the gallery.
  • Booking will be secured by payment of 25% of the rental price. If the renter
  • cancels within 3 days of the booking, YAAW retains that deposit. The renter will
  • also pay any nonrefundable catering etc that YAAW has paid on their behalf. If
  • YAAW needs to cancel for any reason, the deposit will be returned. If weather
  • requires rescheduling, that can be negotiated.

Your rental includes:

  • Access to the gallery (main and adjoining gallery rooms); in summer, possible access to our fenced yard
  • Two washrooms
  • Kitchenette
    • sink, microwave, kettle, 8-cup coffee maker, use of one shelf in mini-refrigerator
    • basic dishes/mugs/cutlery
    • note that there is no oven/stovetop in the facility
  • 20 folding chairs
  • 3 six-foot folding tables
  • Digital projector and screen
  • On-site parking for up to 3 vehicles
  • Capacity – for a seated meeting, about 18 people would be the maximum. For an event where people are standing and moving around, 30 at a time would be realistic.

Rental packages to consider:

Inspiring morning meeting 8-10 am

Host a meeting before the gallery opens! Come into the gallery to the scent of coffee. If
desired, and for an extra fee, your host can arrange breakfast catering.

At tables, we can comfortably seat up to 18 people.

Coffee and tea service – $30 additional fee
Simple catering arrangements – $30 additional fee plus costs of catering.

YAAW Soirée 5-7
With 3 artist hosts, this can form the basis for a lovely party for up to 30 guests. For an
additional fee, YAAW will organize the liquor licence, wine and basic meat and cheese
trays for your party.
Liquor licence and catering arrangements: $270 fee, includes $30 liquor licence fee and
honoraria for 2 extra hosts. Costs of wine and catering are extra.

YAAW rental rates
Government: up to 2-hour event, $300; up to 6-hour event, $500
Business: up to 2-hour event, $270; up to 6-hour event, $450
Nonprofit: up to 2-hour event, $225; up to 6-hour event, $375.

Please contact us for artist rates or film shoots.

6-hour events will likely only be able to take place on Sundays and Mondays, unless
you’d like to have a really long evening event. That being said, let’s talk.
Sundays are particularly good because on-street parking is free.

Unless you are GST-exempt, GST applies to all rentals.
