Walking Tours

Join a practicing Whitehorse-based artist on a walking tour through downtown Whitehorse! We will visit public art installations that you might not otherwise notice, and share stories of the artists behind some of the more noticeable pieces.

Workshops

Our artists can provide a variety of workshops. Here are a few; more will be added to the list.

We are offering a pilot project series of them, on the following Mondays follows. Each workshop begins with a gallery tour, includes tea and coffee, and runs 5-7 p.m.. It costs $95 plus gst to register, plus a materials fee specific to each workshop that reflects the costs of  materials and additional preparation the artist has to do.

Nicole Bauberger layered acrylic ravens.

Drawing is no obstacle for this workshop which will teach you a variety of the properties of acrylic paint. Nicole will provide traceable patterns of her signature ravens and lead you through layering colours to see what the paint can do. We will start with one black and one white panel, and work back and forth between them. With acrylics, you can get anywhere from anywhere else. She will bring metallic and interference colours, so if you’d like to explore your Northern Lights experiences in paint, she can help you with that as well. 2 hours, $95 plus a $10 per person materials charge, plus gst.

Nicole Bauberger intro to encaustic painting

Paint with molten beeswax! This sculptural material engages all your senses with its sweet scent and the way the colours move under the heat gun. Explore your memories or imaginings of the Northern lights. Nicole will get you started with enough instruction to begin your explorations safely and then tailor her demonstrations to participants’ interests. Each participant will have access to 4 roughly 5×7 boards for their experiments. $95 plus a $30 per person materials charge, plus gst.

Nicole Bauberger kites from waste stream film plastic

In this family-friendly workshop, we will collage 3-foot-tall sled kites from clean film plastic in the gallery. We will then take them out to the Pioneer Cemetery to test-fly and modify. This fun, experimental workshop will leave you with a device made with your own hands that you can then take and fly in the Carcross Desert or some other wide-open space.

We will be using tape, bamboo and kite string.

Children should register with a grown-up assistant. $5 plus gst materials cost per pair.
